COVID-19: IN SOLIDARITY WITH ARTISTS & ARTS ORGANIZATIONS
Hi. Most of you know that I am a copy editor and translator by day. But perhaps you were not aware that I am an artist outside the office (I am a lyric singer for many ensembles). I have been privileged to work alongside many artists for almost 20 years—the same artists who are in a difficult situation right now due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Unfortunately, the pandemic has virtually hit the cultural industry hard. Since mid-March, no artist could perform on any stage. Most of us receive honoraria for the work we do for producers. But because performances have been cancelled or postponed, we have had no choice but to perform online whenever possible. This means that we have not received any money to make ends meet.
I know this is a difficult time for artists, regardless of their field. While they patiently look forward to the opportunity to return to centre stage, they may be using their downtime to put various documents together (for example, 2020–2021 season information, biographies, media kits). Maybe these artists do not know who to contact to ensure their documents are clear, concise, and effective. Or they do not know how they can reach out to other linguistic communities. There is good news: I am here to help you.
When will the pandemic end? Nobody knows for sure, but we certainly hope to share our art with the public sooner rather than later. Until that happens, it will be my pleasure to copy edit, translate, or proofread your texts for free. All you need to do is fill out the form below.
I will grant your requests in the order they were received. It will be my pleasure to work with texts containing 500 to 2,000 words.
